One of the fastest-growing small cities in Georgia throughout the 1990s, the City of Suwanee has worked hard to ensure that our community is not "overrun" by growth. Because growth has been managed effectively, Suwanee remains one of the most attractive places in metro Atlanta to call "home." With a rapidly growing business base as well, Suwanee also is a great place to work.
More than 1,000 businesses, the majority of them service or retail oriented, are located in Suwanee. High-tech and light industrial firms, as well as distribution centers, are grouped in attractive business/industrial parks close to I-85 while several quaint businesses are located in the historic Old Town area. Suwanee's new Town Center area will soon be a thriving area with a mix of retail, office, and residential uses.

Suwanee is located in the northwest quadrant of dynamic Gwinnett County, which has consistently been rated tops in the nation in economic strength in studies that document local employment, salary, education, manufacturing and service sector diversity, employment growth, and household income. Gwinnett County businesses—manufacturing companies, high-tech businesses, and international companies—employ more than 350,000 workers. The Gwinnett Chamber of Commerce describes the county's business culture as a blend of “the warmth of Southern hospitality and the international sophistication of high technology and multinational business.” |
