A 2012 Snap Suwanee winning photograph: 'Mosaic Resting' by Carol T. Vey

If one of your photos taken in Suwanee has elicited oohs and ahs from your friends – or if you just really like the photo and feel that it says something about the Suwanee community – then please consider participating in this year's Snap Suwanee competition. This annual photo contest celebrates the Suwanee community and the quick-shutter fingers of those who manage to capture interesting, unique, or reflective moments.

Submissions for the 2013 Snap Suwanee exhibit are due by December 31. Photographers may submit up to five high-resolution photos each; photos must be at least 300 dpi in order to be printed and exhibited. Submissions without the application form or of photos that are low resolution may not be considered. Additional guidelines and an application are available here.

Suwanee resident Janet George has been a winner in each of the previous three years. "It's fun to enter the contest for several reasons," she says. "One is you don't have to be someone who's taken even one photography class. That'd be me! You don't even have to own an expensive camera. Me again! It's truly open to anyone. Also, Suwanee has a number of pretty places – or maybe I should say photogenic places. That makes taking a nice photo a lot easier."

The 13 photos selected as winners of the 2012 Snap Suwanee competition will remain on exhibit at City Hall until March. Last year, 129 entries were received from 43 photographers.
