Instead of letting all those old trophies, medals, and plaques clutter your home, donate them towards something meaningful: the City of Suwanee’s Ultimate Participation Trophy. Suwanee is building one giant trophy out of many, and they want yours!

The city is hosting a trophy collection event on Sunday, November 13 from 1-3:00 pm in Town Center Park. Ultimate Participation Trophy artist Phil Proctor (creator of Suwanee’s famous goat herd!) will be on-hand, as well as Matt Paxton, Suwanee resident and star of the television show Hoarders. The city will also be interviewing trophy donators as part of an “artumentary” that will accompany the project.

“No trophy is too small, no amount of trophies are too few – drop off your old trophies and feel like a winner,” said Paxton.

This project fits within ‘Art + Temporary,’ one of Suwanee’s three artistic directions for public art, as defined by the 2015 Public Art Master Plan. The popular SculpTour rotating exhibition also falls within this category.

“I’ve asked my kids if they want their old trophies, and the answer was a hard no,” said Suwanee Assistant City Manager and empty nester Denise Brinson. “As a parent, it’s hard to just throw them away. This project gives those mementos a meaningful purpose and second life.”
