Suwanee Downtown Development Authority Announces Partnership with BOCA Taqueria to Activate Historic Pierce’s Corner
The Suwanee Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is proud to announce a new partnership with BOCA Taqueria, an upscale modern Mexican and Omakase restaurant and bar, to activate the historic Pierce’s Corner building in Old Town Suwanee. Originally built in 1910 and acquired by the DDA in 2005, Pierce’s Corner has long been central to the city’s vision of revitalizing its original city center. In 2023, the DDA made significant investments to bring the building up to code and make it restaurant-ready—a key step toward realizing the community’s long-standing desire for more diverse and curated dining options in Old Town. The project represents the culmination of years of strategic planning to preserve a landmark structure while breathing new life into Suwanee’s historic core.
“The DDA has carefully and thoughtfully vetted potential operators and has made strategic investments to make the building and the site more desirable for a restaurant use,” said Chris Hardin, Economic Development Manager for the City of Suwanee. “This citizen-led board has listened to the community and is proud to partner with BOCA Taqueria.”
BOCA Taqueria, founded by restaurateur Helio Bernal, will bring a refined take on Latin cuisine through bold flavors, modern design, and an intentionally crafted, elevated beverage program. With successful locations already operating in Summerhill (Atlanta) and The Forum (Peachtree Corners), the Pierce’s Corner location will include a full-service dining experience on the first floor and a distinctive second-floor Omakase experience featuring carefully curated Latin dishes served in the traditional chef-driven style. Opening in spring 2026, BOCA Taqueria will add a unique culinary destination to downtown Suwanee and mark a major milestone in the long-term activation of one of its most historic and prominent spaces.
