The City of Suwanee’s 2023 Annual Report, Why?, has been honored with an Award of Excellence in the Communities under 55,000 category of the 2025 Savvy Awards, presented by the City-County Communications & Marketing Association (3CMA). The award was announced during 3CMA’s Annual Conference, held September 3–5, 2025, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The Savvy Awards have represented the best in government communications for more than 30 years. This year, more than 1,100 entries across 37 categories were reviewed by professional communicators from across the country. The competition recognizes local governments that demonstrate excellence in communications, marketing, and resident engagement.
Each year, the City of Suwanee produces an annual report designed not only to inform residents about accomplishments, projects, and financial stewardship, but also to reflect Suwanee’s creative spirit. The 2023 report, inspired by the children’s book Why by Adam Rex and illustrated by Claire Keane, follows the story of a curious young girl who continuously asks why the mayor is so excited about Suwanee. Through her questions, readers discover the city’s most notable achievements—from infrastructure upgrades to cultural initiatives—presented in a whimsical, visually engaging style.
“Suwanee is committed to transparency and to celebrating progress in a way that feels both informative and fun,” said Assistant City Manager Denise Brinson. “The annual report is one of the most important tools we have to share our story with the community, and we are proud that this creative approach has been recognized nationally.”
The City of Suwanee has long believed that public communication should reflect the community itself—engaging, creative, and authentic. By weaving facts and figures into a narrative format, the annual report fosters a deeper connection between residents and their city, making municipal accomplishments feel personal and relatable.
