Winter Weather Update

Post Date:01/30/2026

Inclement weather is once again forecasted to impact our community this weekend. The Suwanee Public Works Department & Police Department remain prepared to prioritize public safety during these conditions. Roads will once again be treated with a mixture of salt, sand, and pebbles to improve traction. The city's available plow trucks and spreader truck are ready for use.

Public Works is coordinating closely with the Suwanee Police Department and remains in constant communication with the Emergency Operations Center to receive real-time updates as conditions change.

Please keep in mind that plowing and salting operations will prioritize major roads, bridges, and known safety locations followed by smaller non-residential streets as conditions allow. For safety reasons, Public Works crew members do not pull vehicles out of ditches, and motorists should contact a towing service if assistance is needed in such circumstances.

Downed trees are prioritized based on their size and impact on overall public safety and accessibility. Residents can report downed trees outside of their own private property using the Police Department’s non-emergency line, at 770-945-8995.

Remember, the city does not manage any utilities, so any power or service outages should be reported directly to the appropriate utility provider. As you prepare for inclement conditions, please preemptively find out whether you live within city limits, so that you know who to contact if faced with any of the above circumstances.

Due to weather conditions, city parks such as Sims Lake Park and Suwanee Creek Park will be closed, along with the pedestrian bridge at Town Center on MainSawmill Drive will also be closed. The City of Suwanee appreciates the community’s patience and cooperation as crews work to maintain safe conditions throughout the weekend.
