FY 2027 City of Suwanee Budget Assumes Millage to Remain at 4.93, Same as Past Fourteen Years
The City of Suwanee began the new fiscal (budget) year on July 1, 2026, with a $22.5 million balanced operating budget. This year’s budget represents a 6.5 percent increase in operating expenditure compared to the amended FY 2026 budget.
Suwanee’s $22.5 million FY 2027 budget includes:
- 126 full-time and 7 part-time positions (Note: 3 positions removed from authorized personnel listing).
- 11.4 percent group health insurance renewal
- Cyber security and new backup system, $120,000
- New Parking Management, $19,000
- Website redesign and ADA compliance, $40,000
- New Financial Software upgrade, $205,000
- Facilities landscaping and right-of-way maintenance, $625,000
- Vehicle, parks, and building repairs, $404,000
- Capital funding, $1,284,800
After analyzing the 2026 tax consolidation information provided by Gwinnett County, the City of Suwanee has adopted a budget that assumes that the millage rate will remain at 4.93 mills, the same rate adopted by the City for the past fourteen years. This proposed millage rate of 4.93 is a rollback millage rate increase of .182 mills, a 3.83 percent increase in property taxes based on market value growth. Property taxes, one of the chief sources of revenue for the City, are collected based on the millage rate.
The Suwanee City Council is expected to adopt the FY 2027 millage rate at its regular September 22 meeting. The City will hold three public hearings at City Hall on September 10 at 5:30 pm, and September 22 at noon and 6:30 pm before adopting the millage rate.
