Suwanee Strategic Plan

The City of Suwanee is excited to have launched a community-driven, long-term vision for the future of the city.  We are eager to hear what the community envisions for Suwanee as we plan for the next 15 years. The City of Suwanee is currently in the midst of a year-long strategic planning process designed to help shape the city’s future direction.

  • Over the past several months, more than 200 community members participated in a series of roundtable discussions as part of this effort. Participants were divided into 25 groups, each meeting four times to explore ideas and priorities for Suwanee’s future. These conversations were thoughtful, open, and engaging, often lasting more than two hours as participants shared perspectives and built on one another’s ideas.

  • City staff and consultants are now compiling the insights gathered during these sessions and beginning to formulate the next draft of the strategic plan.

  • Before the plan moves forward, the community is invited to participate one more time. Join us to review the initial draft concepts and share your feedback. A public input session will be held May 20 from 4-7 pm at City Hall and May 21 from 4-7 pm at the reading grotto at Town Center on Main.

What is a strategic plan?

A strategic plan is a roadmap for how the City prioritizes initiatives and investments, and guides the actions of the Mayor, Council and City departments to achieve the goals set forth in the community vision. A strategic plan goes beyond physical planning, such as the 2040 Comprehensive Plan that was adopted in 2019 and is focused on land use and managing growth. A strategic plan hones in on all the other things the City and its partners can do to make Suwanee a great place and respond to the needs and priorities of its residents, workers, and businesses, including economic development, parks, public safety, youth, culture, the arts, seniors, transportation and communication.
