Home MenuVeterans Recognition
The City of Suwanee takes great pride in celebrating the achievements and contributions of our community members. Whether it’s a student championship, a nonprofit milestone, or honoring those who have served, public recognition is one of the many ways the City shows appreciation and gratitude.
In 2024, the City deepened its commitment to honoring military service through the creation of Greater Good, a 20-foot Veterans Memorial located in Town Center on Main. Surrounded by over 200 commemorative plaques, this permanent installation serves as a powerful symbol of respect, reflection, and gratitude for the men and women who have served our country.
In keeping with this spirit, the City of Suwanee offers veterans an opportunity to be recognized during regular City Council meetings. Veterans of all service branches—past, present, or newly enlisted—are invited to attend and be acknowledged for their service.
If you, or someone you know, would like to be recognized, simply fill out the short Veteran Recognition Request Form prior to a meeting. The form requests basic information, including name, branch of service, and rank. Alternatively, veterans may notify a staff member on-site before the meeting begins.
During the Pledge of Allegiance portion of the meeting, the Mayor will extend a personal message of thanks and invite the attending veteran to stand and be recognized. Uniforms are welcome but not required, and veterans may approach for photographs if they wish, although this is not required.
City Council meetings take place at 6:30 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Council Chambers at Suwanee City Hall, located at 330 Town Center Avenue.
We are proud to offer this meaningful opportunity to recognize those in our community who have served. Thank you for your service.
