Home MenuMartin Farm Road Bridge Reconstruction
The Martin Farm Road Bridge is getting a makeover! Construction on this project officially began in November 2025, and work has been moving forward over the past several months.
The area around the bridge has been closed while crews actively work in the area. We appreciate the patience of nearby residents and visitors as we work to finish these improvements and reopen the bridge later this year.
Originally constructed in 1978, the bridge does not meet current design standards. The replacement bridge will be 240-feet long and wider by over 9 feet, improving traffic safety and allowing for the addition of a sidewalk. Additionally, the bridge deck will be raised seven feet, allowing for the passage of more water to reduce flooding.
The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has entered into a contract with F.S. Scarbrough to reconstruct the bridge on Martin Farm Road over Suwanee Creek. This detour is essential to facilitate the safe and efficient demolition of the old bridge and construction of the new bridge.
The Martin Farm Road bridge replacement is a Georgia Department of Transportation project (ID#0015618). Click here for project updates.
Current Status of Construction
Demolition of the original bridge is complete, and construction of the new bridge is now underway. Martin Farm Road remains closed to through traffic during construction. The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has established a signed detour route in accordance with approved traffic control plans.
During this phase of construction, the City of Suwanee recommends that residents and visitors access the Suwanee Creek Greenway from the McGinnis Ferry Road or Suwanee Creek Park trailheads. Access to the Martin Farm Park trailhead parking lot is extremely limited due to construction activities.
The City of Suwanee and Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) will be advancing construction projects in the coming weeks that will affect access to both the trailhead parking lot on Martin Farm Road and the Suwanee Creek Greenway in this area. While contractors will work to keep the lot and trail accessible to the public whenever possible, visitors are encouraged to use alternative trailheads such as those at McGinnis Ferry Road, Suwanee Creek Park, or George Pierce Park during this time. Trail visitors are asked to use caution should they need to travel through the affected section of the greenway at this time.
The City of Suwanee will continue to provide updates on this webpage as construction progresses and will share significant project updates through its social media channels.
